Individual Therapy
Who is individual therapy for?
This is for any person who is interested in engaging with the therapeutic process to pursue their goals. Goals look different for everyone. Some people may be looking for a safe place to process their emotions related to day-to-day life, focusing primarily on maintenance. Others may have specific directions in mind, such as developing coping skills for anxiety, relieving the intensity of their depression, learning to function with ADHD, processing deep-rooted traumas, working through grief, building confidence and self-compassion, and so on. Or maybe you just feel that you're not fully engaging with life, that you want more out of it, but you're not quite sure how to get there. It's okay if you don't have specific goals in mind; a part of the process is helping you gain clarity about your direction. Please note that I do not work with clients younger than 12-years-old.
What does a session look like?
A session is typically 50-minutes long (though 30-minute sessions and extended sessions can be an option). It usually begins with our therapy dog, Indigo Sky, greeting you. You'll then have the option of choosing whether to meet in our comfortable office or do a walk-and-talk session on nearby trails. During the session I will utilize different types of therapeutic interventions tailored to your unique needs. I have an integrative approach, and may incorporate elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, somatic therapy, solution-focused therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and others to support you in exploring your experience, reflect on the here-and-now, and consider how to move forward. You may learn about different tools that could benefit you, which I will encourage you to practice applying outside of session. While the therapy session itself is vital, the majority of your therapeutic work will occur outside of session.
